General Growth Properties is a publicly traded Real Estate Investment Trust ("REIT") and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under ticker symbol GGP. Including predecessor companies, GGP has been in the shopping center business for over fifty years. The second largest REIT, General Growth owns, develops, operates, and/or manages shopping malls in 44 states, as well as Master Planned Communities in three states, including Summerlin in Nevada, The Woodlands and Bridgeland in Texas, and Columbia in Maryland.
